Construction tips for all maces

1. Use a light core. Use graphite shafts or kite spar if you can get it. Failing that, try doubled 3/8" fiberglass rods.

2. Use a counterweight. No matter how light your core, the large mace head makes the weapon top-heavy. Loading the handle and pommel with weight adds balance and speed.

3. Go easy on the duct tape. This goes for cloth tape, too. Each additional piece adds weight. Use as little tape as possible, and use glue instead of tape whenever you can.

4. Pad the shaft well. Nothing sucks more than having your mace fail because the shaft hits too hard.
